The Canadian Bridging Open Work Permit (BOWP)

The Canada Bridging Open Work Permit (BOWP) allows foreigners and individuals from other countries who are currently employed within Canada in Canada to prolong the validity date of their work permit or permit as they wait and expect a favorable decision on their application for permanent residency.

It is a Bridging open Work Permit available only to those who have recently submitted an application for permanent residence and now have an extensive work permit.

If your bridging permit succeeds, it could be converted into the issuance of an open permit that allows those who have it in their possession to work for several employers in various locations of their preference.

Who is Qualified:

In order to be eligible to be eligible for to be eligible for Bridging Open Work Permit, you must adhere to the following rules:

  • You must currently reside in Canada;
  • The individual in question is legally entitled to an employment permit which is due to expire within 4 months.
  • The person who is in this case is the principal or the principal candidate for an FSWP or the CEC or the PNP or FSTP application for permanent residence
  • The applicant in question received an appraisal of their qualifications or evaluation of his application and
  • The person concerned has submitted an application in the form of an open-work grant.

However, it’s not the entire permanently resident programs that are qualified to be eligible for the BOWP. The BOWP is only available to those who are a part of the following permanent residence programs:

  1. Federal Skilled Trades Program (FST)
  2. Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP)
  3. Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSW)
  4. Canadian Experience Class (CEC)

Candidates who apply to the BOWP through any of Quebec’s programs, you are not eligible to be eligible for this Bridging Open Work Permit. An international or foreign worker is required to submit an BOWP application before the current work permit expires.
